Privacy Policy
Deepwell Rising · last updated 20 October 2026
Deepwell Rising is a co-op action game in development. This policy explains what data the game, our game servers and this website use, why, and what your rights are. We collect as little as possible.
1. Who we are
Deepwell Rising is developed by an independent developer based in the Netherlands (EU), who is responsible for the data described here. Contact: privacy@deepwellrising.com.
2. Your Epic account
The game uses Epic Online Services (by Epic Games) to sign you in and for online play. When you sign in with Epic, we receive your Epic account ID, an Epic product user ID and your display name. With your permission the game also uses your online presence and your Epic friends list, only to let friends see that you are playing and to send or receive game invites. We never receive your Epic password or e-mail address.
An Epic account is needed for online play, cloud saves and purchases. Offline mode works without one; your progress then stays on your computer only.
3. Data on our game servers
When you play signed in, our game servers store your game data so you can continue on any PC:
- Account: your Epic IDs, display name, when the account was created and last seen.
- Characters and saves: class, level, experience, in-game currency, character look, inventory and gear, skills, weapon mastery, quest progress, Solace Spire progress, trophies and the save file itself.
- Gameplay statistics: totals such as kills, deaths, shots, damage, playtime and the difficulty you play on.
- Sessions: who played together, when, in which mode and difficulty, and the game version, and your Solace Spire run times.
- Sign-in: to keep you signed in we store a hashed sign-in token with your device's program name (user agent). It expires after 30 days.
- Purchases: which skins and account features (such as the XP boost) your account owns, how you got them (purchase, gift or promotion) and when.
Our server logs record which address of the API was called, the result, the time it took and your account ID, for security and troubleshooting. They do not contain your IP address, passwords, tokens or save data. Your IP address is only used for a moment, in memory, to limit the number of requests.
4. What other players see
- In co-op: the other players in your session see your display name, your character, its look and level. When you join a session, the host's game checks with our servers which skins and account features you own, using a short-lived ticket, so nobody can use paid items they don't own.
- Multiplayer connection: network traffic between players is routed through Epic's servers (peer-to-peer relay). Your IP address is processed by Epic for this purpose.
- Public rankings: the ranking on this website shows your display name with your characters' class and level, your best Solace Spire floor and your Spire clear times.
5. Purchases
The shop is not open yet. When it opens, you sign in with your Epic account and payments are handled by a payment provider, who will be named here. We never receive or store your card or bank details; we only receive confirmation of the order (what you bought, the amount and the date), which we link to your account. We keep order records for 7 years because Dutch tax law requires it.
6. On your computer
Your settings, offline progress and a local copy of your saves are stored on your own computer.
7. This website
This website does not use cookies or analytics. The web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are deleted after 14 days. When signing in on this website becomes possible, we will update this policy before it starts.
8. Who else processes data
- Epic Games, for sign-in and online play, under their own privacy policy: epicgames.com/site/privacypolicy.
- Our hosting provider, which runs our servers on our behalf.
- A payment provider, once the shop opens.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or use tracking for advertising.
9. Legal basis and retention
We process data to provide the game and the online features you ask for (performance of a contract), to keep our services secure and fair, for example against cheating and abuse (legitimate interest), and to keep order records (legal obligation).
We keep your account and game data for as long as you have an account. You can delete characters in the game; to delete your whole account, e-mail us. Order records are kept for 7 years, as described above.
10. Your rights (GDPR)
You can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, object to processing, or ask for a copy of your data. Email privacy@deepwellrising.com. You can also file a complaint with your data protection authority (in the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
11. Children
The game is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the game develops. The date at the top shows the latest version.
